Sorry this looks to be not a wine issue directly, it is wine from the
ubuntu repository. I am also having the same system hangs/stability
issue over time. seems it might be related to software raid5

Works fine for me. You sure you aren't using the version from the official wine
repos and are actually using the ubuntu version? To check/make sure, can you
post the output of the command:
apt-cache policy wine
