in Hardy.

I searched couple other forums for this problem and found the suggestion to
switch from graphical mode to text mode booting. And that involved using
grub-ubdate command.
This what i got in terminal after executing :~$ sudo grub-update
[sudo] password for joe:

I have the same problem on Toshiba Satellite a75 Laptop. While booting
the screen is blank-black.

I have this same problem with a fresh install of Gutsy for amd64 on an
MSI megabook s270. I have another partition on the same laptop which had
Feisty and which I have upgraded to Gutsy and I don´t have the problem
there (this is feisty/gutsy for x86). So I guess it only happens with a
fresh instal
I also have this problem after a fresh install of Gutsy (the final
release, not the beta). The problem is on my old Toshiba Satellite
115-S103. It seems to be different from the bug #129910 mentioned
above, because the screen is only blank during the boot process. Once

I installed ubuntu on my hp ze4805us laptop today. During the live cd
boot I did receive the splash screen for the majority of the boot
process, although about 3/4s the way through, the screen switched to
text mode, and finished booting the live cd. I then proceeded to install
ubuntu 7.10 via the l

Can you please check the output of the following command: ´grep "command
line" /var/log/syslog´, or, if this gives no output ´zgrep "command
line" /var/log/syslog.1.gz´? If you get something like e.g. vga=792 or
vga=0x318 (the digits may differ depending on the screen-resolution you
are using by
