Hm, sounds strange, would be interesting if that is reproducible (though a bit
difficult to test). I "solved" my problem by doing an English install.

After several attempts, i could finally install ubuntu. after the
install hanged at deifferent times, I had to disable CPU scalling (cool
n' quiet / powernow) and set relax memory timings in order to install
the system without problem.
Hope this can help someone.

same problem here during the desktop install of an AMD64 system except that the
installation hangs during the installation of german language packages (at
83%). the system seems responsive (i can start applications) but clicking the
skip button of the installer has no effect.
