I wanted to thank you all for all of your help so far; it has really
warmed my heart. I will work on the BIOS update thing sometime during
the next couple days. I will then post comments regarding that endeavor.

I upgraded to vivid 15.04 on my HP Sleekbook (AMD A10 CPU) and it runs
very hot. Top shows kworker taking up 60-70% CPU immediately after
rebooting and not launching any programs.
