Note that the above is with clean Intrepid install, albeit with Visual
Effects enabled (i.e., Compiz). I might’ve been using vanilla Metacity
when reporting this bug (and that why it might’ve switched windows,
while it does not switch them now).

Actually, with current Intrepid (pidgin 1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1 and pidgin-
libnotify 0.13-0ubuntu2) the ‘Show’ button again does not work; neither
the tab, the window, nor the workspace is being switched.
