I should really spend some time actually investigating the problem in an
in-depth, technical fashion. I'll go ahead and file a new bug report,
along with whatever I can figure out about the issue on my computer.
There seem to be several similar-but-not-identical

it's likely that some upgrade or change in a crucial parameter just made the
issue go away. wish i could be of more help...

Looks like this bug has been dormant for a few months. Rather than file
a new report I'm going to chime in here to say that I have this exact
problem. I have a Thinkpad G41 running an up-to-date fresh install of
Ubuntu Hardy (with a few small config tweaks). My laptop reliably
suspends-to-RAM EV

I’m seeing this problem too; Googling “gnome-power-manager suspend when
unplugged” comes up with an ancient bug from nearly 18 months ago which
seems to have been *fixed* in g-p-m 2.13. I didn’t see this issue on
Feisty; it appeared when I ran the upgrade program to Gutsy.
