I also think there is something fishy going on with the language
extensions to Firefox supplied by Ubuntu. After installing Turkish and
Bulgarian language support, I can no longer install any add-ons from the
mozilla site. The extension manager simply refuses to install them. Very
frustrating...

But bruno, this happens when I move my ~/.mozilla out of the way, so Firefox
creates an empty one - it cannot be any addons.
I tried -safe-mode and made no difference.

this problem. Usually this kind of bug in Firefox is due to incompatible
add-ons. You should try to launch Firefox with the command line :
firefox -safe-mode
It will disable all ad

So I uninstalled mozilla-firefox-locale-es-es and, presto! Firefox works
