I'm seeing this same / similar problem as well..
I'm trying to encode .wav file to mp3 using lame, but the output is just
static.. None of the hints in the lame's man page worked for me.
The .wav file is this: http://lame.sourceforge.net/download/samples/ftb_samp.wv
I'm using Ubuntu Hardy on amd64
Has this problem been solved already?
