I had the same problem earlier today. Getting libXdamage from the i386 package
solved the problem.
I have Intel GM965 graphics, so no proprietary drivers.
Gutsy tribe5 AMD64, daily updated.

OK, it looks like it is the libGLU that is pulling this in, so if you
are using proprietary drivers you don't see this.

Not everyones googleearth binaries seem to depend on libXdamage; but
both of ours do and I've just tried dropping libXdamage in and it fixes
it for me.

I can't reproduce this.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ldd ./google-earth/googleearth-bin |grep -i damage
My google earth binary does not need damage. Additionally, it runs
flawless from the start.

What confuses me is why this used to work; was it only pre-gutsy, has
feisty's actually got this library and we lost in gutsy?
