It can be a fault in the driver. Without Xgl the animations is lightning fast indeed, but with Xgl it is about two times slower. It takes about 3 seconds. I tried to capture the animation but that didn't' work. I will try to post a capture tomorrow. -- panel animations should be disabled if com

But I use Xgl and don't get this. I'd say it's because you use the fglrx driver and I use the nvidia one but I don't really see how that would make a difference. I mean, this animation is lightning fast when done in software so having Xgl use OpenGL to do it should at worst make it slightly slower.
