Wow, that was a long time ago, I didn't even remember of this bug.
Just reinstalled Sound Juicer in Intrepid and made a quick test : ripped
a few tracks from an Audio CD, quit SJ, insert a data CD : it appears
fine on the desktop.

Also, I'm not sure it is related but I just tried to unmount an USB hard disk
and I get another error message: "Starting the command failed / Creation of the
communication pipe with the child process failed (too much open files)".

If you mean before hald is killed (when I can't see the CD icon on the
desktop), the answer is no. It's like if there was no CD at all in the tray.
After I kill / restart hald, when I insert the CD, Nautilus open its window so

Here are the files for my report. Please note that :
- Gnome Volume Manager reported that the data CD was locked by hal
- I don't know where to find the IDs after the gnome-volume-manager is
restarted in the background
- After hald is killed and restarted, the data CD mounts correctly
