Seems quiet now, and I'm running widescreens at my work using hardy, and
they work fine.

We've re-vamped the way detection's done in Gutsy, now doing an Xorg
-configure. This should hopefully do better detection.
As well, you can always override with an X_MODE_0, which has made it's
way back into gutsy.
Can you try it in Gutsy, and let us know?
