no newer version is required, ssl is just not compiled in. SSL is available since version 0.8.1. Please also note the recent modification on the authors website: Debian: (.deb) http://packages.debian.org/x11vnc (N.B: old and unmaintained; better to compile from source) -- x11vnc h
