I'm on Jaunty now but unable to reproduce this bug. My environment
variables are:
QT_IM_MODULE=xim
GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge
I use Gnome as my desktop.

Yes, GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge will likely trigger the same problem.
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim (which should be the gutsy default) won't.

It happens also with these assignments:
QT_IM_MODULE=scim
GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge
I'm running Gutsy. I'm not claiming that this is the Gutsy default but
that the problem happens not *only* with GTK_IM_MODULE=scim.

Known problem. The second tray icon is for the GTK applications started
as root.
Note this only happens with GTK_IM_MODULE=scim, which is (probably) the
default for feisty (7.04). So far gutsy is not using this as default.
