I had to use a herd 5 live cd as I dont want to install this on my system. And
I think there never was a herd 6?

it's quite possible, but let's wait for the reporter input since sometimes the
same card model use different chipsets in different revision of the hardware.
i don't know if that's the case, but we don't loose anything waiting a little
bit.
