Since the package apache was superseeded by apache2 and is not part of
gusty, I believe this should be assigned to apache2. Please feel free to
change it back if I am erroneous.

yes /var was on its own LVM (it was the only LVM on the machine on its
own LVM group) and formatted as JFS.

Not sure, as it mounted /var but just did not create necessary files for
LAMP, but I will repeat the install process exactly for Alpha 5 and see
if it happens again.
