Since xgl has been dropped and that there is no issue with compiz and
other compositing manager, I set this bug report to invalid. However, if
you can still reproduce issues with any other compositing manager than
xserver-xgl, please open a new bug report. Thanks for your contribution.

I got to reproduce the bug with xserver-xgl installed on a laptop with a
ATI mobility radeon X300 card. Since it only happens with XGL, I added
that package to the bug and changed the description.

It is now clear that this bug is not AMD64 specific. It seems that a lot
of people does have this bug with ATI proprietary drivers, but also
sometimes nvidia. Since this only happens when Compiz enabled, I ask
myself if this is a Gnucash or a Compiz
Fredrik Persson : You said "I don't have an ATI card" but you have the
xorg-driver-fglrx installed ( that should normally means that you have a
ATI card ). Is your graphic card a ATI? Intel?
Can you also type this on a terminal :
ls /var/cache/apt/archives
You should get a list of recent package
I'm using AIGLX and Compiz Fusion with AMD ATI drivers 8.42.3. Now there
are no errors as to the latest Ubuntu updates.
Thanks very much to the Compiz Fusion team for having fixed this. Still
no luck with XGL.

This drivers I'm using come from the official ATI AMD website. There's
no way I could run AIGLX with the official Ubuntu ATI drivers.
With the Ubuntu ATI drivers I must use XGL, and with XGL used to have
the problems that I mentioned previously with GnuCash.

I confirm the bug happening for me on i386.
I'm now using fresh installed Gutsy with standards depots packages (Gnucash +
xgl + compiz + proprietary ati driver) and it still happens.
Deactivating compiz with the command "metacity --replace" solves the problem.

One problem is that the account tabs doesn't render properly. Another
problem is that you can't enter a date in an account tab
The same appends for me under XGL + compiz/compiz-fusion/metacity. No problem
under xorg.
I also have an ATI card (radeon xpress200m). I tried ubuntu's proprietary
drivers and self compiled ATI drivers.
