This is really a shame... now that Windows XP ended is life cycle and
with Ubuntu 14.04 desktop experience much more polished that earlyer
versions and getting attention to many enterprise admins as an
alternative to Windows. There is no easy way to make it part of an
Active Directory
I prefer to use solution available from the Ubuntu repository. So , PBIS
and Centrify are out of the question. I will give a try to the "realmd -
network authentication that use sssd" (look for the link in the Marc's
post).
Probably won't be as easy as likewise but since I use a script to deploy

school's tech and we rely on ubuntu due to its cost. I've only upgraded
a couple of computers and cannot get any other "solution" to work.

OK but, can you please point us to these "other solution" ? I hope they
are as simple and easy as likewise-open (or at least well documented).
Likewise-open is a really simple way to join an AD. No need for config
file and testing, it just work
