The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
Reassigning to the kernel team agains the actively developed kernel.
However, against linux-source-2.6.22 this will be closed as it does not
meet the criteria for a stable release update. You can learn more about

The mic is still inactive and can be made to work in the same exact
manner. As an FYI, it made my wifi card dissapear (IPW2200), leaving
only the wired and loopback connections.

Hi,
A few things you might want to try . . . First try install linux-
backports-modules and see if that helps. If not, then you might want to
try testing with the Hardy kernel which was recently uploaded for
testing. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1 LiveCD was released with
the older 2.6.22

I have a SONY Vaio VGN FS 640/W and have the same problem.
This is my parents laptop so I need a fix (scripted or permanent) ASAP,
cause I don't want this to be a deal breaker for them.
Is there any way I can script it to do the front mic / mic switch on
boot, till a permanent fix is found?
