I'm still able to reproduce this in 0.92 on Fedora 25. I had some text
in an SVG that was rendered as Normal in Inkscape, but was set to Bold
in the UI. The PDF export showed the 'faux bold' effect since my system
does not have the proper bold version of the font. Additionally, when

ubuntu condensed bold font not shown correctly inside inks
>From testing in trunk, you cannot select the Bold style for the
Condensed face from the UI. If you have the Text & Font dialog open
though and manually type Bold into the Style widget on the Text Tool
Controls Bar it will show correctly in the T&F preview widget but not on
canvas.
