currently Kaffeine works fine with DVB-S on Hardy;
maybe it is because I unload&reload the corresponding kernel modules before
starting kaffeine

Is it possible to test this in Jaunty please? Also, the reason there was
no response is the fact that Kaffeine uses KDE's bugtracker, I will
refile this at the correct tracker.

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 8.04 (AMD64), but as root I have no
problems. However it sucks to watch TV with superuser. Please fix the
problem.

/dev/dvb/adapter0/ca0 should only be required to use encryption cards
for pay tv, as far as I know. So this being available or not should not
affect the ability of Kaffeine to tune into a channel.
As there was no response to this item, yet (neither here nor on
SourceForge.net), I usually use VLC t
adding a symbolic link for the missing dev file does not help.
sudo ln -s /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/ca0
Maybe it is because I'm using recent kernel (2.6.24.3) with edgy.
