1) it may help to pull the stick out and back in, I have had this help many
times
2) some other programs mess up the partion and or format of the stick, so you
can use the USB Formatter first to fix it. I format to fat and i

Ning,
I believe it is a tool maintained by LinuxMint. In the menu it is called "USB
Image Writer", but when I start it, the process that shows up is "mintstick".
