Problem reproducible on Dell pre-production machine with Gutsy Tribe 3
and 4. Passing "all_generic_ide" to the installer makes the failure go
away. I can send any/all info of the system if required.

Yes. I have the Ubuntu Feisty installed in my HD IDE.
But the problem only occurs if my HD Sata will be connected, therefore if I to
use a HD IDE the Gutsy system initiates boot normally.
