FYI, I installed 331.20 from the ubuntu-x-swat Saucy PPA, and it
resolved the issues I was having.

Nvidia provided a hotfix patch fo
nvidia-319-updates has been compatible with 3.11 since the
319.49-0ubuntu2 release in Saucy (and we're at 319.60-0ubuntu1 now). If
it doesn't compile, then it's probably a bug free to file a bug report
about it. It's not compatible with 3.12 though.

users can patch, I think we need a repository update for everyone else.
319.72 includes the 3.11 fix, and it's in Debian unstable:

Can we also backport 331.20 to 13.10 / Saucy? The current nvidia
drivers in Saucy don't support the 3.11 kernel, and there are gobs of
issues.
