This change fixed the last part of my zoneminder problem. It
nkevin@ling:/etc/apache2$ pwd
/etc/apache2
kevin@ling:/etc/apache2$ ls -l */zoneminder.conf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Dec 14 01:16 conf-available/zoneminder.conf ->
../../zm/apache.conf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Dec 14 00:43 conf.d/zone
changing "short_open_tag = On" fix the problem?
