The '2:0.123.2189+git35cf912-1' version is not in the saucy sources,
because of that I asked to add this version to the repository above.
I downloaded the deb package from an older release
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/x264/2:0.123.2189+git35cf912-1/+build/3493053
and installed it manually
** No longer affects: mplayer

Sorry, but I have the same problem, am trying the same solution, but I'm
getting "E: Version '2:0.123.2189+git35cf912-1' for 'libx264-123' was
not found". Is it the wrong repositories?
Specifically:
andrius@Ramblys:/etc/apt$ cat sources.list
sorry, false alert, it is working wit the old package

I removed libx264-123:amd64 2:0.123.2189+git35cf912-1ubuntu1 and replaced it
with the older
libx264-123:amd64 2:0.123.2189+git35cf912-1 and mencoder is working again.
Can the old version be added to the saucy repository as long as the bug
is not fixed?

** Description changed:
mencoder version 2:1.0~rc4.dfsg1+svn34540-1ubuntu4 from saucy is not
working and crashes with segmentation fault.
Input files are from a mpeg file, demuxed by projectx.
The mencoder version in raring worked without any problems.
mencoder cut.m2v -ovc x264
I tried from my other device with lubuntu 13.10 (saucy), but it is the
same problem.
