I Have the same problem as Robert Cress.
To me it seems that the keyboard is switched off.
I use a USB-keyboard.
Using GRUB the keyboard is fully functional. However as soon as Xubuntu boots

This is not reproducible here with Ubuntu 13.10. Do you get a response
to any keys on the keyboard at all - for instance, does anything happen
if you hit 'Esc'? When you say you have to 'hard reboot', is that using
Ctrl+Alt+Del or do you really have to hit the power button? What

Elfy, this is at a similar bug, not I am not sure if they are the same.
My problem is that the encrypted drive is detected, but it doesn't let
me input the password. I get the graphical splash screen, which is very
similar to the Xubuntu 13.04 splash screen, but it completely ignores my
