Suspend using nvidia driver and NVIDIA 8400M GS doesn't work
I've tried id without the quiet option and it does not help. The screen
is not just black, it's turned off when it suspends to disk. And
somewhere in between it hangs, I don't know why :-(
BTW: I've tested it with the open source nv driver instead of the nvidia
driver - and there the Suspend2Disk
My Nvidia card is a Quadro NVS 110M which is very similar to the GeForce
Go 7300.
Thanks for the hint with the quiet option, I will try it. When using it,
do I see the messages during the suspend process?
Bye
Stefan

Not sure why Suspend to Disk would not work, try removing 'quiet' from
the kernel menu in /boot/grub/menu.lst so you can see more messages on
the screen, perhaps there's some module that it can't unload?
Also, some nVidia cards behave differently, which one do you have?

My laptop is a Dell D620 with the NVidia graphic chip.
Suspend2RAM now works most times (did not suspend at the 3rd time anymore).
Suspend2Disk still does not work with this workaround, it doesn't shut's down.

Workaround with new driver 100.14.19. In /etc/default/acpi-support,
change to:
MODULES="uvcvideo"
SAVE_VBE_STATE=false
POST_VIDEO=false
Suspend and Hibernate both work as long as the parameters above are set.
