Mark, have you looked at the bug #124406? People says that it may be
somehow related to acpi. And, again, not related to Firefox. Probably
comes with upgrade to Edgy.

This is happening (only in Firefox so far) on a computer here with:
* an up-to-date Gutsy Gibbon
* PS/2 keyboard
* metacity, no 3D desktop stuff
* Firefox version 2.0.0.8+2nobinonly-0ubuntu1
I think the keyboard shortcuts that produce this problem (roughly a
couple of times a day) are Ctrl-W and
skipping 40 audio tracks is a bit of funny.

This one is not correct. It is not the firefox or mozilla bug. Please reassign.
And it's importance is not low. I'm afraid of unexpected repeats of hot keys.
They might be dangerous.
Hopefully it only closes tabs, types 'fff' and
Same here...
In firefox and in Eye Of GNOME. I have Gutsy, with the most recent updates,

That's interesting. But (for me at least) it's still happening only for
the mentioned few applications and only when using keyboard shortcuts.
I'd still bet on a bug in some common library. But could different
kernel somehow affect how some library works?
That could be easily tested if I can find
I have the same problem on Debian.
I use Debian etch for quite a while now. Since the bug has appeared only
recently and the only thing I upgrade is the kernel, I suspect the bug was
triggered by a kernel upgrade around version <=2.6.20/19.

This is still happening for me too in (Kubuntu) Gutsy RC. I just got 52
new firefox windows by pressing Ctrl-N once, and CPU usage was 100%
while it made them... Quite annoying.

This still happens with the latest updates. I think this bug is very

track down. Can you try to reproduce this again Hilario?

My xinerama setup hasn't worked for awhile because of another bug, but
this still happens with my single screen setup, so it's not related to
xinerama.
Yesterday I pressed Ctrl-N in Firefox and ended up with 100+ new windows
before Firefox crashed... :/

Should have checked the dependencies more closely before. I've now tried
Gwenview too (has the same problem also), and these are the common packets for
them all:
libc6
libx11-6
libxext6
libxi6
libxinerama1
And yes, I have two screens and I'm using xinerama, but the problem

I have to correct myself, this bug isn't annoying, it's totally

In GQview you don't even have to be on full screen mode. In normal mode
it comes up when changing images with arrow keys. I also tried QIV, but
it also has the same problem than GQview! Watching the dependencies of

It did not. GQview was skipping images a moment ago. And this time it
probably had a new record: it skipped about 115 images. :(

I have same kind of symptoms on Gutsy (and I'm not using Beryl). But not
only with Ctrl-W, also with Ctrl-T and when using the "search on page as
you type". And Ctrl-W doesn't close all the tabs. I normally have many
of them (like 20) and it closes like 5-10. And this also happens in
GQview. Pressi
Definitely, this is a Beryl bug. I've been a couple of weeks without
Beryl because my laptop was very hot, and I've noticed that this bug
hasn't appeared anymore.
