This seems to be a problem with the Unity integration: After disabling
ui.use_unity_menubar in Firefox, the Bookmarks button is displayed
correctly

Reproduced on 4 different 12.04 installations. The bookmark button works
when placed itno the naviagtion or add-on bar.
