The unity package should be removed from the blacklist during
distribution upgrade (or at least when Ubuntu is not installed).
A workaround is to manually remove unity, but since the error message
only shows up in the log files it is not at all intuitive to fix it.

I started from a server install of 10.04 on which I added Xubuntu. Unity
must have gotten picked up along the upgrade path.

I believe this is because you've installed unity on a Xubuntu system,
and then during the upgrade process unity is selected for removal but it
is on the blacklist so the upgrade fails.
