"lo" was not properly configured... and this was all my fault as I
removed by mistake the auto lo, when configuring my wifi in
/etc/network/interfaces...
I'm a bit of ashamed...
My gnome now start properly. I think we can close the bug, but maybe
an error message could be send
Please let us know the output of 'ifconfig' command.

Thaks for the suggestion, but it did'nt work, (also I already tryed to
log on a new account and got the same result...).
/var/crash only contain the firefox I did not properly quit on logoff.
gnome worked until I did the updates...

rm -rf .gnome2
rm -rf .gconf
And try again... else check /var/crash if there is any report there
about gnome.
