Excellent, thanks for confirming that; closing as fixed.
@stephans, please check yourself and feel free to re-open if the issue

Thanks for asking, no it did not happen. I've installed hardy on my
blank mashine and it did work. Only the fglrx from hardy did not work
correctky, but this is a different thing.

jmg: I fix the issue manually by installing and configuring X, then I run
ubiquity and get a working system.
< jmg> absolon: is there any workaround?
< jmg> absolon: okay, in that case the bug should probably be filed against

I do:
aptitude install fglrx-driver
Then I edit /etc/X11/xor
I can confirm this. This isn't really a problem for me as I know how to
get around the issue, but I believe this is a show stopping bug for a
lot of people. The T60p is a pretty common computer in Norway at least,
so I think this issue warrants a higher priority.

Hallo
I've tried to install Gutsy x86-64 on my T60p wide-screen and also only
got to a console. So I switched back to openSuSE 10.3, which installs at
least a framebuffer Xorg so I can afterwards install the fglrx. A
similar behaviour of Kubuntu would be enough for me.
Any idea?

I changed the status to confirmed, since I have tried booting with new
media and reproduced the error several times.

For some reason, using the Ubuntu 7.04 64 bit CD it does boot and detect
the display. Not ever in any of the 32 bit versions though. Also note,
the Athereos A/B/G/N (Broadcom) included does not work. The latest beta
madwifi can use the card though.
