The gutsy upstream is busted ATM (2.0.2), workaround to the problem,
(amd64) use the upure64 repo until fixed.

Has this package been declined for Gutsy because no one has the time to
make the package? I'm currently going through the Debian policy on .deb
packages and would like to give this package a try if the case is no one
has the time.

Yeah, Pidgin 2.0.2 would be great since it fixes the Jabber transfer bug.
But I think it is important that it is shipped with Gutsy. Feisty users can
install the deb from Getdeb http://www.getdeb.net/app.php?name=Pidgin imho.
