Jerome, Thanks for your prompt response! Fortunately, it looks like the current version of update-manager for Dapper AMD64 does not have this bug. I had hoped to upgrade to Edgy (and on to Feisty) from a pristine install (the Edgy and Feisty install CDs won't boot on my system), but after submit
