I found a way to solve the problem even if it's quite inelegant.
I manually modified the config.dat database of debconf
/var/cache/debconf/config.dat
and when I found the vmware-server/serial-number key it looked like
this:
Name: vmware-server/serial-number
Template: vmware-server/serial-number
I'm having the same error, I tried installing the package via aptitude and
adept but no luck.
I think the error is originated in the post installation script:
/var/lib/dpkg/info/vmware-server.postinst
which is called by dpkg with the "configure" param (/bin/bash
/var/lib/dpkg/info/vmware-server.
I recently installed 2 fresh systems with kubuntu 7.04 and enabled the
feisty-commercial repository.
The first one installed succesfully using adept_manager, the second install was
done using the command line without any problems.
I'm now deleting the vmware-server kernel modules and reinstallin
