This bug seems to be deeper in the system than just the indicator. Apart from the mentioned error, I get utf8 errors in most Gtk Python programs ("'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xca in position 0: invalid continuation byte") and Nautilus reports "Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to pa

In my case, it was solved by the following: - Reinstall Ubutu 13.04 - Leave the location/ time zone as it is (do not change the time zone, leave as its default) - Cotinue installation When installation is completed, time zone or location can be changed. Hope this will also work for you. Rgds. -
