The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

I have added more info to my Ubuntu Forums topic.
Just today I tried booting with a Debian LiveCD and it worked fine.
The current Ubuntu 7.10 LiveCD will not.
I can glady upload all files I had posted in the forum if it would help.
I hope this will get fixed soon as I have no working CD-drives.

Possibly same problem with my system.
A few days ago I had noticed that my drives no longer worked in Ubuntu 7.10.
Could have been related to a new kernel that was upgraded before, though that
is speculation.

I just found that USB mass storage device aren't detected neither. See
dmesg-usb.part. Should I open a new bug for this? BTW: Those devices
worked fine with Sarge.
