I'm going to close the bug report based on your comment regarding no
longer having the hard drive but tag it as needing development release
testing. Thanks for helping out!

It would have been a pleasure to do so. Unfortunately, the buggy drive
was on an HP laptop that died last Saturday (faulty video chip). The
waranty expired 2 months ago (the usual story), so it is very unlikely
that I will ever get it fixed. Maybe at some point I will try and get
the drive out to r
Brezhonneg - it would be quite helpful if you could test this with the
kernel that is actively being worked on. You could do this by either
installing a Hardy Alpha build - since we can't test this bug with the
LiveCD or by building the latest git tree. We have some documentation
about the latter
I'm changing the 2.6.20 task as "Won't Fix" as it is fixed for the
original reporter - zahoma00 - with an upgrade 2.6.22.

Even though this bug report seems to get no attention, I am attaching
yet another dmesg log. It confirms what I mentioned last time about the
drive confused message:
[ 1997.917839] hda: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01).
Trying to recover by ending request.

By the way, I see the initial bug report was against linux-
source-2.6.20, should I have opened a new one against linux-
source-2.6.22?
