Hi Brian,
Unfortunately, due to other problems (HAL update made my network adapters
disappeared) I uninstalled Ubuntu. I plan to re-install it soon. But I can
say that I used the OO and all other software that was on the original
installation CD. I also installed all updates as they were appear
OO version is 2.2.0-1ubuntu3
fglrx version is 8.34.8
It's a default Ubuntu 7.04 installation. As you can see from the post of
netsoul this bug affects i386 arch also.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. With which specific version of the openoffice.org package did
you notice this issue? You can check using the command 'dpkg -l
openoffice.org'. I happen to use the fglrx driver on amd64 and can run
openoffice.org app
I do confirm this bug on Pentium 4 machine. fglrx' removal also helped.

I use ATI fglrx drivers with ATI Xpress 1100 (200M), uninstalling of
fglrx helps a lot. OO starts now.

...I use amd64 version of Ubuntu 7.04
If any additional info needed please let me now. The version of OO is
Feisty's default version. No patches applied or self-compiling made.
