This is still affecting the most recent daily ISO and I can confirm it
affects Kubuntu as well. As soon as the partitioner stages start up it
just spins and spins. I've also tried with/without the "Install updates"
checked to the same result.
I'd be happy to walk through any steps that may be help

Had the same bug today using the daily live build.
I believe this issue happened because i have a ssd card. I installed 13.04 in
other computers without any hassle.
In 5 attempts i was able to advance to the partition screen 2 times, by
doing an dist-upgrade in the live cd.

As I suspected, this problem disappeared after manually disconnecting
the drives that comprise my BTRFS RAID10 array. Ubiquity and the
partitioning tool have had problems with complicated setups over the
years from dm-raid to apparently btrfs drives or arrays.
