Looking at the bug report more closely it seems that neither of you have
the same sound card. So while Donatas says it is fixed, I am still
curious to find out what Steve says. Donatas - a test with the Live CD
is not necessary but it would still be interesting to ensure there is
not a regression
After some upgrade of the kernel did start to work on my computer. My
current kernel (which makes it work again) is: 2.6.20-16-generic. Sorry
for not reporting this earlier. If a test would be still needed with
Gutsy live cd, please let me know.

I have an asus a8f laptop and after upgrade to feisty I lost my sound as
well. It still works with the kernel that came with edgy (byt webcam
does not, so I cannot make it default...)
I see kmix now has more options for sound control than it had in edgy...
