Video performance is affected very much by the fact that there is no
direct rendering available on Linux when running on PS3. Closing this

Work is being done on improving video playback.
Until the optimized Xv-driver is ready, I've put up a page on how to get
an optimized video output in mplayer (with debs) on
http://linux.yes.nu/PS3Ubuntu
This should enable you to play most but not h.264 smoothly in 1080p.

Same problem here with Feisty @ 720p. Seems pretty odd as the PS3
doesn't seem to be unresponsive in other areas of the screen (as if it
is struggling), just a slow fps for video and TheGoom visualisation.
