Hi,
this comment is to confirm that a memory module was faulty. It has been
replaced and all kernels 3.5.0-17/18/19 including 3.7.0 rc7 all work perfectly
on my machine. I have testing it thoroughly for more than a week.
Cheers and thanks,
Compliments of the season to all of you,
Rob

No problem at all, Robert. I'm glad to hear you found the cause. If
you find replacing the memory is not the cause, just move the status of
this bug back to new.

Hi Joseph,
I have found hardware errors on my computer. I have a problem that two memory
modules will not work together as dual channel memory. They fail the memtest86+
test when they are in adjacent slots.
Kernel 3.7.0 rc7 does work perfectly on my computer but the memory

I have marked it as 'confirmed'. There are no problems with kernel 3.7.0
on my machine.
I did boot kernel-3.5.0-18-generic to test again and the above bug did happen.
I got 'kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-3.5.0/mm/mmap.c:2312!' with kernel
3.5.0-18-generic within a few minutes.
Thanks for all
Hi I don't seem to have any problems with kernel 3.7.0. I have added the tag
kernel-fixed-upstream to the list of tags.
Thanks,

I will continue using this kernel for further testing.

I have install the upstream kernel 3.7.0-030700rc7-generic, headers and the

No stack dumps so far, but I will test if for some time still. My hardware is

Hi Joseph,
Sure I will test the latest upstream kernel and will provide feedback on the
results.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Sorry that I have only responded now. I have been trying to change hardware to
see if I can isolate the bug. I have changed video cards, mice etc.
I will get b
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer

Hi I should have mentioned the above problem occurs with
linux-image-3.5.0-17-generic and linux-image-3.5.0-18-generic from ubuntu
12.10. It also seems to be related to my Optical Genius mouse as this is
mentioned often in the syslog file just before the stack trace.
Thanks
