Hi Kim,
I went back and double checked and it looks like all of the tools and
libraries are versioned 1.0.25 in precise, so I don't think we have an
actual bug here. Since we're good on the linux driver support
bug1077084, precise should "just work" out of the box with updates and
the 12.04 kernel
The problem stems from HDMI audio. ALSA 1.0.25 has included numerous
fixes in the sound core. With 1.0.24 the sound did not work. With
1.0.25 sound works. Here is a link to the alsa page which details all

Your best bet is to work with the kernel team to get the required
patches into the 12.04 kernel. The version number of ALSA at the
driver/kernel level means very little these days, since all driver work
is done as part of kernel development.
