Are you able to reproduce this, either with the release version of
Feisty or (preferably) with Gutsy's kvm 1:28-4ubuntu1? If you can,
where in the windows XP install does it crash? Is it when it tries to
reboot at the end? Earlier in the process?
Also, adding -no-acpi is apparently needed to in
Hang on now... this bug is about "unhandled vm exit: 0x0"... "unhandled
vm exit: 0x8021" is probably something different (I'm also being
bitten by 0x800...021). So, who's having which problem?

Just for clarification, the core dumped just as the installer was about
to reboot.
Also: note that the version of kvm shipped with Ubuntu 7.04 seems to be
kvm version 16 (with an appropriately patched kernel). kvm development
right now is at version 20, although that doesn't necessarily mean that
A workaround is available at

It says that you can install with qemu, then disable ACPI from within
Windows.

I have the same problem:
$ kvm -hda Windows_XP_Professional.qcow -cdrom /dev/hda -boot d -m 1000 -no-acpi
