Got this same behavior in 12.10 with bleeding-edge pcmanfm. Pretty sure this is indeed a wishlist item even though the preferences just say "thumbnails." I note images and pdfs work fine, but e.g. OpenDocuments and indeed .MOVs aren't the only video files that are problematic. .OGV and .MP4 failed
