It sounds like Jos isn't having this issue anymore in Edgy, and dd's is
working fine as well. I'm going to go ahead and close the bug then. If
the bad iPod still causes kernel oops in Hardy or later, please reopen
this bug. Thanks!

My problem with Toshiba 80 GB detachable HD is solved. It was coming
from something else. I took my HD to a MSW-XP box, and attached it, and
saw that some 'Password Protection' was enabled. I made it off there.
Just this solved the whole problem there. My uneducated guess is that
some DRM thing is
I cannot access a Toshiba 80GB USB Storage Device with Feisty.
'dmesg' is reporting it, but 'lsusb' is hanging the command prompt, it
is not returning anymore, I have to just close the terminal window.
I am quoting here the relevant portion of 'demsg' output, after I
