Ok I've tested the patch on Quantal and it does indeed fix the issue. I
was able to even increase the number of iterations in the reproducer to
10 and not incur a crash. In addition, I ran this multiple times.

The attached patch (done against natty), seems to address the issue. It
specifically addresses the recursion of free_profile that is causing the
stack corruption.
