Unfortunately I haven't used f-spot often recently, but I've just tested
it now and it seems to work fine even with the updated kernel
(2.6.24.17).

Ok, I solved the issue doing right-click on the full screen window
iconised, then maximise, and when I close/reopen the full screen it's ok
!

Same bug here. Happens when using compiz. No problem with Metacity. I am
using an Nvidia 7400 GS video card. Seems same bug as bug #130085

I think this and all similar "bugs" are compiz related needers of
documentation. See bug #149291
I started fiddling with ccsm and the "full screen mode" or "[full screen mode]"
that appears in the bottom bar.
It works.
